Dev Blog - Player Contracts

Hey everyone!
Season 6 is almost here, and it’s bringing a big shake-up to how you progress in Rematch. Right now, Player Level doesn’t do much besides making sure you’ve had a few matches under your belt before jumping into Ranked. We thought it deserved more, so we’ve given it a fresh coat of paint!
Player Contracts

There are 10 contracts to unlock, from Baller all the way up to Icon. Each one has its own levels, and you level up by earning experience points. Earning experience points is as simple as spending time playing matches!
To move up to the next contract, you’ll need to meet two criteria:
Reach level cap: reach the max level of your current contract.
Upgrade your badges: unlock badges and complete in-match actions that suit your playstyle.
Every time you level up a contract, you’ll earn Blocks, and the higher your contract, the more you get per level.
So the loop is simple: play matches to earn XP, do things that you like on the pitch to unlock and upgrade your badges, and watch your contract progress.
Heads up for Ranked: you’ll need the Amateur Contract to queue for Ranked matches. If you were Player Level 5 or higher, you’ll start Season 6 with Amateur already unlocked.
And reaching Icon isn’t the end of your journey! There’s no level cap, so you can keep leveling up and earning Blocks for as long as you play.
Badges
Badges are how you show off your playstyle and skill. You unlock them by performing different actions in matches, and they level up the more you perform these actions.
To unlock the next contract, you’ll need to level up your badges and slot them into the badge slots for your current contract. For example, the Pro Contract asks you to fill three badge slots: two 2-star badges and one 1-star badge.
You can also add them to your Player Card, independently from your contract to show everyone else what your playstyle is about!
Archetypes
Fill every slot with badges from the same category and you’ll add a special flair to your contract page. For example, three Goalkeeper badges will give you the “Rampart” archetype, and once you complete that contract, the name becomes a Player Title you can display on your Player Card!
You can also mix and match badges to match your playstyle and pick up the archetype that fits. Archetype names also upgrade as your badges do. Three 1-star Attack badges get you “Striker,” and three 2-star badges of the same category grants you “Vanguard.”
You can also look back on your journey in a dedicated page in the Profile menu. Your Contract Career is public, so other players can check it out when they view your profile!
Legacy Rewards
You’ve put a lot of time into Rematch, and we don’t want any of that to go to waste. So we’re giving out legacy rewards based on the Player Level you’ve reached when Season 6 rolls around:
Tier 1 Cap: Player Level 1 to 99
Tier 2 Cap: Player Level 100 and above
Tier 3 Cap: Top 5000 highest Player Levels

Similarly to Ranked rewards, you will also get the caps from the tiers below yours!
We’ll lock in your Player Level for these rewards when the new system goes live. That means you’ve still got time to grind before the Blue Lock season ends and push for the next tier. If you’ve got your eye on the Tier 2 or even the Tier 3 cap, now’s the time!
